The devil is always at work in those things you don’t want others to know about - the stuff you’re hiding. He is called the Prince of Darkness for a reason. Even if it’s just little stuff that you’re hiding, it’s still something you’re ashamed of and that you might be outwardly lying about. If it isn’t sin, it probably led to sin.
The word says to to bring it into the open and talk with another believer about it. This will lead to healing and reconciliation and weaken the devil’s ability to use it against you.
