It’s easy to let our fire grow dim. We have responsibilities and demands that weigh us down if we aren’t careful. Jesus warned us of this when He told the parable of the Sowing of the Seed. He said that for some people, their ground was thorny and full of weeds (not tended and cared for) “and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.” Mark 4:19
It’s really easy to neglect the ground of our hearts and spirits - it takes diligence and grace to keep in step with the Lord.
“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” Romans 12:2
