In the Pain

I have lived from a place of pain and there is no doubt that it affected my ability to see clearly and to have vision. I made bad decisions and operated in a spirit of fear. It took some time before I started to wake up to it, and I wondered why God was letting me go through it... but He was just waiting for me to turn to Him.

I am sad to say that this has happened a few times in my life, but I’m happy to say that I turn back to God much more quickly now. I think that’s just the way it goes as we learn to live in this fallen and broken world as citizens of Heaven.

I heard @taurenwells preach this message this weekend and was struck by this quote. He also said that “Your pain can produce clarity.” And that is so true. It can help us see what we’ve learned from whatever pain we’re enduring, and help us to move forward in faith.

“Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” Romans‬ ‭5:3-5‬ ‭ESV‬‬
