I learned something so sweet about my Jesus yesterday, something so obvious, but undiscovered by me…
We are always learning about how the Lord looks at our heart and our intentions, not just our actions and we know that He is looking for humility and compassion. We know all about the fruit of the Spirit that we want to produce and that we need to walk daily with Him.
But, in this verse, Jesus told us about HIS heart. We know that He humbled Himself, gave up His divinity to become a man and redeem us because of His unfathomable love for us. In Matthew 11:29, He tells us that He is gentle and lowly in heart - he didn’t act this way when He became a man, He IS this way, always.
He is gentle with us, with our hearts and our feelings, He understands and is compassionate. He is lowly - even though He is worthy of all our praise and deserves our life’s work, He doesn’t demand it. In fact He compassionately and patiently walks through the muck and the more with us.
