Disobedience is the where it starts, just like with Adam and Eve in the Garden, the devil will use any means necessary to entice us to disobey God. It’s usually just a little thing that we can justify or dismiss as “not that big of a deal.”
“But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams. Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft, and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols.” 1 Samuel 15:22-23 NLT
This seems a little harsh, but the Lord is clear and we can see the evidence when we look back on our lives. Things get worse for us, and for our world when we choose our own will (including our goals and dreams) over God’s will and purposes for our life. And, we don’t have to look far to see what happens when people deny God even exists or has power and authority.
