A Whole Heart

Our hearts are what matters to God. All the stuff we spend so much time and money on - our clothes, our skin, our hair, our home, our hobbies, and on and on - these aren’t what matters to God. In Matthew 6:24, Jesus tells us that “You cannot serve both God and mammon.” Mammon means money, possessions and property. God demands to be first, and if He isn’t - our hearts will be restless and maybe even anxious.

We have to get first things first to enter into God’s peace - the peace that can’t be explained or understood and that isn’t dependent on circumstances. God first. When everything and everyone is secondary to God, we get our hearts aligned to God’s and He brings in all He has promised. God’s perfect peace is shalom: whole, with nothing missing and nothing broken.
