What a great way to think about our broken pasts! Thank you @sheilawalsh1

Our ability to connect with people lies in whether or not we can empathize and be compassionate. People can see right through us if we don’t. We can have pure and righteous motives for wanting to help, for serving, but if our heart isn’t engaged and accessible, theirs won’t be either.


My past brokenness has given me a heart for broken people - I remember how it feels and even if they are experiencing consequences for sin, I hurt for them and want to give them hope. Some people figure that they “deserve the pain,” but the truth is that we all deserve it and, “There, but for the grace of God, go I.”
