Fruitfulness

I love this picture of our dependence on God for everything. When a branch is separate from its vine, it no longer has a life source and it withers and dies. But today I also thought of the other part of this - when the vine loses a branch, it leaves a scar and it loses some of its fruitfulness. A vine without branches produces nothing. When Jesus commissioned us to go out and spread the Good News and make disciples - to be fruitful and multiply the Church - it’s because God designed the vine to need the branches, to need us.
