God chose you, just the way you are, imperfectly living in a messy world.
I’ve fallen into the trap of trying to walk my Christian life in someone else’s footsteps. I did it for the right reasons- I admired their faith and wanted to be like them. But we are called to be disciples of Jesus, not other imperfect people.
Jesus knows that our faith is messy. He knows that our lives are messy too - He doesn’t want or need us to hide that from Him or anyone else. Our authenticity in our struggles is what gives people hope - it is nothing to be ashamed of! Being real is attractive and comforting to the people we are called to serve - and we’re all called to serve.
“For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.”
