“Christian” means follower of Christ. It’s really easy to get caught up in emulating, admiring and following another person rather than Jesus. When we do this, we will ALWAYS be disappointed. Each one of us is human, who is (hopefully) doing the best they can, but who will stumble and who will make mistakes.
One of the biggest problems in the church is people following other people instead of looking straight to their one and only Savior, Jesus Christ, and the Word He embodied. People see this and they say the church is full of hypocrites...
As Christians, we are ambassadors of Christ - our mission is to point to Him. Not to get caught up in the differences between different denominations, but to promote faith and worship of our Triune God.
“Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”” Matthew 28:18-20
