God really forgives AND FORGETS our sin and iniquity. I’m not sure how He does this since He knows all things, sees all things and even understands the why behind them - but He does because He wants to.
How about you? How good are you at the forgiveness thing? We will never be as good at it as God, but we are filled with the Holy Spirit! The same Holy Spirit that caused James, the brother of Jesus to say “forgive them, for they don’t know what they’re doing,” when He was being executed. The Holy Spirit in you longs to forgive, and when you ignore Him, you’re hardening your heart.
Forgetting is another thing. You can’t forget things that you haven’t forgiven. But sometimes you can forget when you’ve forgiven and healed. Sometimes this means that you’ve had to protect yourself by moving on, and sometimes God protects you from future hurts, but it doesn’t mean that you need to put yourself in a position to be abused. The Holy Spirit is very wise - listen to Him.
