When we pray, we aren’t praying to a God that is distracted or too busy to listen. Quite the contrary, He is paying closer attention than we are, and He sees much more of every situation than we possibly can - because He knows what is in every heart. He knows every motive, even the ones we lie to ourselves about.
Our God is listening, but He is wise and He is good. As a good Father, He doesn’t give us everything we ask for - even if it’s a good thing. Think of a child asking for a cookie... sure you give them one, but not 10, and not over and over because it’s not good for the child.
The key to praying More effectively is to pour out your heart to God. Be real, be authentic and be yourself. Don’t forget that God is holy. Ask Him to sanctify you and approach with a heart that listens for His response - this is harder, I think. I challenge you to listen. The other key is to pray the Word of God. Scripture is alive and powerful. It is God’s word and when you pray the way David or Jesus or Paul prayed, you learn more and more about your Father and about what is important to Him. Prayer should never be just about us, it should be laced with love, gratitude and devotion to God. #prayer #goodgoodfather #godislistening #godhearsourprayers #BEthechurch #discipleship #praylikedavid #shalom #onespiritonechurch #dailydevotional #scripture
