Planting and watering can be long hard work. It can be especially difficult when we don’t see anything coming from it. We can’t control what happens inside the seed, we can only act on faith and trust in God’s design of the seed.
This is even more difficult with people - especially our children. We sow seed in people every day. Words of encouragement and wisdom or of discouragement and strife. We pour love, kindness and hard work on them, or frustration, anger and criticism. Or, we just completely neglect them.
