Listening to God

I don’t know about you, but I am goal oriented and a type-A personality. Some people would say I’m driven to achieve and they wouldn’t be wrong. But I don’t have a need to do this to “keep up” with others or to impress people. I’ve just always been this way and God has used it in some pretty cool ways - like writing this everyday for almost 5 years and writing my books.

You see, writing is something that God told me to do. I didn’t come up with it on my own and had never even wanted to write until one day in 2004 when the Lord told me to. Yes, HE told me to and I said “Okayyy” in a surprised and tentative voice. And I actually did it, by faith. I didn’t wait until all the pieces fell together or I had enough time - and God made time come together for me. As I obeyed, everything flowed. It was super cool!

It’s taken almost 20 years, but I’m seeing God use some of my writing to bring healing and wholeness to broken people - that’s all that matters and it’s not me doing it. It’s all God. He orchestrated the books, He inspired me to write them and that’s it. I didn’t know I had a gift for it until He opened it up. I can’t wait to see what He wants me to do next!

Sometimes being obedient means to wait, to move, to submit and be patient until God has done what He needs to do in that area - or to disciple you in that area. Cooperate with Him! He’s your perfect teacher. Listen to Him!
