There is confusion in our culture about who and what a peacemaker really is. There is even a “superhero” named Peacemaker - he “is a man who fights for peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it.” I think we can all agree that wasn’t what Jesus was blessing!
I think that the kind of peace that Jesus blesses is when we bring faith, love, healing and forgiveness to people, even in the midst of conflict and uncertainty. It’s all about Shalom, wholeness. This is the real peace that we can bring into people’s situations. It’s not about what happens around us, rather it’s what takes place I. Our hearts.
