I used to dread mornings and was often heard to say “I’m just not a morning person.” That was my tired excuse for being cranky. It wasn’t a lie, I was more of a “night owl,” but it was still just an excuse. I asked God to change me and to create a willing spirit within me so that my family would have a more pleasant mommy in the morning and I would be more joyful. I embraced this verse:
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
Lamentations 3:22-23
And, God was faithful. I was full of joy in the mornings and even get up earlier than I have to, so that I can spend time with Him and in devotion.
