You Can’t Earn It

“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” Isaiah‬ ‭53:5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Our salvation, our relationship with God is not determined by us - no matter how good we are and how many people we help - it’s all about Jesus and His work on our behalf. His blood and His grace are what save us, not anything that we do.

As basic as this is, there are a lot of Christians who believe that good people will gets saved before they die and then get to go to heaven. Lots of things can motivate people to do good things, but that doesn’t make them believers. Believing and surrendering is what sets Christians apart. There are still too many believers who are trying to earn grace by doing good things. Don’t get me wrong, Christians are supposed to serve each other, the poor and the disenfranchised, but always out of an attitude of service and love, not because we are “supposed” to or because it’s expected. People look at the appearance of things, but God sees the heart. #theywillknowusbyourlove #godlooksattheheart #jesussaves #grace #jesuslovesyou #godlovesyou #discipleship #christianliving #shalom #onespiritonechurch #dailydevotional
