I cringe when I hear people say “People don’t change, they can’t. They can learn to act certain ways, but they’ll never really change.”
People CAN change, but not on their own - God changes people. Jesus gives us a new heart, that changes everything. EVERYTHING!
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Romans 12:2 ESV
We can’t change ourselves, but we can initiate it - By opening our heart and mind to the word and the Spirit, we are transformed. It’s the Word and the Spirit that do it, not us. Cults try to copy this by having people “open their consciousness” or “empty their minds” but these counterfeits just open you up to evil.
