“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.”Isaiah 43:2
Basically God is warning us that we WILL go through stuff. Stuff that will make us feel like we are drowning and being swept away and overwhelmed. Stuff that makes us feel like we are burning alive, enduring pain and suffocating. When we are in the middle of these trials we often ask God to fix them or stop them, and rescue us. His promise is that He will go THROUGH it with us. Through the pain, through the loss, through the betrayal, through the desperation, through evil attacks - through it all, our Lord will be with us. Just as He was with the boys in the fiery furnace, Daniel in the Lions den, Joseph in slavery and betrayal, Moses in Egypt, Elijah in the desert, David running for his life in the wilderness, the Lord will go through whatever you face WITH you. Lean on and trust Him.
