How to Keep Going

Sometimes we need to travel a difficult road for God’s purposes to be fulfilled. Sometimes that purpose is our own sanctification, sometimes it’s like training for a big match or fight.

Sometimes it feels like we can’t take the next step, like the journey is too difficult for us… when this happens we have a choice - and it matters. Either trust God enough to let Him be the strength for the next step, one at a time, or don’t. It’s that simple. When the path gets too difficult for you to handle alone, there are lots of people in the Bible who can encourage you to keep going. God absolutely gives us more than we can handle alone so that we will depend wholly on Him! …but we get to choose. Paul wrote in his 2nd letter to the Corinthians, “We think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters, about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it. In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead.” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭1‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

This kind of overwhelming despair can be emotional instead of physical - that’s why we have verses like this - “From the ends of the earth, I cry to you for help when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the towering rock of safety,” Psalms‬ ‭61‬:‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

When despair and grief become too heavy, our Lord wants to carry the burden with us. He is always with us as we take the next step. #dontgiveup #thelordiswithyou #createdonpurposeforapurpose #stepbystep #yourjourneytobeingwhole #shalom #dailydevotional
