Morning Prayers

How do you start your day? Traditionally, Jews start by praying the Lord’s blessing and the Shema,

Hear, Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is One.

Blessed be the Name of His glorious kingdom for ever and ever

And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

And these words that I command you today shall be in your heart.

And you shall teach them diligently to your children, and you shall speak of them when you sit at home, and when you walk along the way, and when you lie down and when you rise up.

And you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be for frontlets between your eyes. And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. Deuteronomy 6:5-9

They didn’t start by asking God for stuff and to meet their needs. Jesus taught us to begin all of our prayers with praise and worship of God our Father and for HIS will, not our own. I have noticed that sometimes I’m trying to convince God that my plan is best… rather than seeking His plan and asking Him to show me His will…
