Following Christ is a lifestyle. Church isn’t just a club we join. Being a Christian is a decision that we make to turn away from our old lifestyles and submit ourselves to God’s will and purposes for our lives. This is what happens when we are saved and Jesus blood washes us clean - we’re given a new heart.
The problem is that we live in a broken and corrupt world. And, it’s going to stay that way until Jesus comes back. It’s up to us to do the work of the ministry until then, and it’s hard work. Many Christians treat their Christianity like a family member they visit from time to time - they really love that person and will care for them, but they don’t live together under the same roof. They want some separation between “church and state” in their hearts… but it doesn’t work that way.
