So many Christians kind of miss this. We are all about Jesus’s grace and mercy and Loving God and people - most of the time. We don’t want to talk about the Fear of the Lord and because of that, the fear of other things interferes with our wisdom and discipleship. You are probably thinking, “I don’t live in fear of other things.” But, I would challenge you - how much do you consider what other people will think about something versus what God thinks? @ryanromeo preached yesterday, reminding us that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is not popular and that you can’t seek popularity and the Gospel at the same time. God’s word is clear and comprehensive, but are you looking for loopholes for your choices or are you walking in The Spirit?
Fearing God doesn’t take anything away from His love, grace and mercy. But it does enable us to grow in wisdom and understanding - not just of God, but of ourselves and others. It also helps us walk as true disciples of Christ rather than just being one of His fans.
