Satisfaction

I saw this quote and it made me think about “how am I doing in this area?” I asked myself, “are there areas in my life where I’m looking for satisfaction from the world instead of from God?”

The answer is “probably, after all I’m human.” This disappointed me… I do get some peace from knowing I have a good and stable job - yet, I believe that God is my source and I know that His hand brought me to that job. I do get peace from knowing that my sons are healthy, strong and prosperous (and it wasn’t always so)… yet, I know that God’s hand saved them from terrible calamity and has blessed them! These outcomes came after fervent prayers of faith, though… so they aren’t relying on the world for satisfaction after all.

I’m going to be more aware and ask God to point out ways I may be doing this.

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. Psalm 103:1-5
