I’m not big on venting my negative emotions - sometimes I need to let them out, but usually I need to pray and then respond - not react. I wasn’t always able to refrain from expressing anger, disappointment and hurt feelings loudly to anyone who’d listen - but I learned not to when I started working for the church. The problem was finding a healthy way to deal with those feelings without sinning.
David is our best example - he poured out his negative emotions and fears to God in prayer. He didn’t hold back at all! His vent was straight to God. Why do we think we should protect God from our feelings? Where does this come from? The only one who benefits from us spilling over on others with negativity is the devil. The devil doesn’t want you to be close enough to to God to share your deep feelings, he will whisper to you that it’s wrong to feel them and THAT IS A LIE! Everyone feels those feelings, it’s what you do with them that can be wrong - taking them to God is never wrong, but taking them to another person can be… #justdoit #prayabouteverything #trustinthelord #beangryandsinnot #christianliving #shalom #yourjourneytobeingwhole #dailydevotional
