Whose Will?

When you teach children right from wrong, you see this lesson very clearly. It’s wrong to be selfish, so when you’re selfish - it is sun. It’s wrong not to obey the parent or teacher. It’s right to submit to them because they are in authority UNLESS they ask you to do something wrong. This is where we teach critical thinking.

The problem we have as we grow up, is that we often choose to do what we want or what feels good instead of what is right. We justify our choice in many ways, but the truth is simply that we’re too selfish or lazy to do what we know is right. Our Lord expects us to do what is right even if it costs us something - especially if it does! He requires us to make sacrifices. This way of life isn’t optional for a believer. Jesus taught us to pray, “not my will, but your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” When you choose your will over what God has said or revealed to you. It is sin. Thank Him for His grace to change, to switch gears and to get back in His path. God is overflowing with this grace and mercy to help you to do His will. #justdoit #godswillnotmine #discipleship #christianliving #yourjourneytobeingwhole #shalom #dailydevotional
